This case study details the G-Core Limited team’s involvement in the £600k project to deliver a large, high end domestic Ground Source Heat Pump system (GSHP) as part of the upgrading of Manor Farm in Eltisley.

It was Client’s ambition was to utilise ground source heating to provide space heating and hot water provide in order to significantly reduce running costs and to capitalise on the Governments Renewable Heat Incentive.

The Clients objective was to move away from the existing fuel oil, to provide a long term reliable and low cost way of heating their re-developed home. They were also keen to capitalise on the Governments Renewable Heat Inventive.

The Client: “The Ground Source Heat Pump system was the best aspect of the project in terms of speed and quality of installation together with the performance of the installed system”.

The system consisted of a Ground Energy Collector (14x100m long Horizontal Heat Exchangers) coupled to a 28kW Dimplex Ground Source Heat Pump system.  This provided low temperature hot water to both radiators and underfloor heating as well as domestic hot water.  The system provides 100% of the space heating and hot water to the property.

G-Core were involved at concept stage with the Client and the developer in order to establish the best technical and cost effective solution.  Due to the age of the property (1500’s), certain listed building and archaeological constraints had to be overcome.  G-Core also looked at the option of installing the source energy collector within the moat surrounding the building.  However, this option was shelves to archaeological restrictions.
The system was design, installed and commissioned and is also maintained by G-Core Limited.  G-Core also completed the application and secured the RHI on behalf of the Client.

The system was fitted with heat meters and an electricity sub-meter in order to calculate the heat produced and system efficiency.   Currently, the system is proving its designed output and efficiency.
